Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
This course will focus on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as it relates to substance use and mental health disorders. The course will present information on the functional principles of DBT, and the five essential features: Improving patient motivation to change: enhancing patient capabilities; generalizing new behaviors; structuring the environment, and enhancing therapist ability and motivation. The course will also focus on DBT's substance abuse specific behavioral targets which include:
Decreasing abuse of substances
Diminishing urges, cravings, and temptations to abuse
Avoid opportunities and cues to abuse
Reducing behaviors conducive to drug abuse
Hours: 16 CEU's
